Attendance
To Report an Absence
It is the parent's responsibility to notify the school when your child will be absent or tardy. There are currently two convenient ways for parents and guardians to notify. You can report a student absence or tardy by calling the school attendance line 24 hours a day at (916) 986-2215, or you can report via email at OakviewAbsence@sanjuan.edu. Both lines are checked daily.
Please provide the following in your message:
- Date of the absence
- First and last name of the student
- Reason for the absence
- Name and relationship of the person who is verifying the absence
Please note that absences need to be excused by parent or guardian within five days or it will become a cut.
This information will be compared with the teacher's daily attendance report to make sure all children are accounted for.
The District has an absence notification system that alerts parents to a student's absence by both phone and e-mail. Parents will then also be able to verify the student's absence with the school via either phone or e-mail.
In order to receive notifications via e-mail, parents/guardians must have an active e-mail address on file with the school. E-mail addresses on file can be verified with school offices if needed. Parents/guardians can verify a students absence via e-mail by replying with the date of the absence, the first and last name of their student, the reason for the absence, and identifying who is sending the absence verification.
Families can opt-out of e-mail notifications at any time by contacting the school office.
